History/backstory to date:
The Gladiator, Centurius Maximus. Little is actually known about this competitor. Here's what we know so far. He's either a time-traveled Gladiator from Roman times, who has ended up in the current day to fight the modern day gladiatorial battles, wrestling...
or, a brainwashed former wrestler, duped into thinking this by the mysterious entity known as The Emperor. Whom, we know is a former world champion wrestler himself.
Either way, we know that The gladiator believes he IS a former Gladiator, and the best one, at that. He was "activated' by the Holy Roman Church. Whom The Emperor apparently has ties to. How this will come to fruition, we do not know.
The Gladiator debuted a year ago in Insane Championship Wrestling, a well known establishment, to earn his keep as he and The Emperor try to take over the world of wrestling.
He won their TransContinental title and soon became main event status, getting a world title shot before the promotion folded.
He is in the ICW once again with one goal. The World Heavyweight title, and to rule as the KING, possibly hinting as to usurp the Emperor as that role? As much as he obeys the Emperor, the hint of dissolution is there...
As the Emperor has stated, according to the Church, there can only be two at once. The master, and the apprentice. Which is which?
And the Emperor himself has stated that he also has a stake in the ICW...what could that be?
The Gladiator lives for 4 things: Knowledge of the current world, the sport of wrestling, to obey his Emperor, and defend the Holy Roman Catholic Church.
At the Insane Rumble, the Gladiator was apparently betrayed by both The Emperor and JJ Hagan in some sort of massive swerve after he won the world title. He was forced to compete against newcomer Myst immediately after the match and disposed of him as well.
The Gladiator has regained his memory in the time off of wrestling and still serves the Roman Catholic Church. He is more light-hearted now, and tries to appeal to the fans. He was the last ICW Champ but the title was stripped off him when the fed closed. The Emperor's whereabouts are unknown, but The Gladiator is hoping to reveal the true connection. He has no idea who this "Healius" character is, but he is in control of his destiny now. He wants competition and to be the ICW champ once more.
Recently, The Gladiator was further tormented by The Emperor and his cronies. The visions kept appearing and Maximus had more visions of being experimented on. Maximus followed up leads across the country, the closest being with Seamus O'Hagan, Healius' cousin, but before O'Hagan could give his information, he was visciously attacked and killed at the hands of Healius.
Maximus then followed the lead to Murphysboro where he encountered Dave Dudley, who had apparently just learned that the mysterious "twelve" organization was a sham. Shortly after, as The Emperor Healius emerged from the building after killing ABVP, the two encountered one another. The Emperor told Maximus that he was a tool in conquering the wrestling world, that they brainwashed him, and made him into something more...human. The Emperor spoke of ascending into something else, and that Maximus was part of the plan, plan number Twelve. The Emperor was now the last remaining member of the Twelve, the on-air public FACE of the twelve, however. The Twelve apparently went much deeper...
The Emperor was able to subdue Maximus. He was brought back to a Twelve facility where they tried to reinstate the mind controlling and blocks on Maximus' fragile psyche. A combination of a beating and Hexane's mind altering chemicals has left The Gladiator in a coma state.
Gladiator, in his coma, dreams of messages and implants hidden away by Hexane. We now know that his real name is Thomas Harrison, and he is from Washington D.C. He was originally training to be a newcomer in EWA, but Healius took him under his wing, and turned him into a weapon.
Healius, however, his story of becoming the Emperor was one of dispair. Unsatisfied with how his career was going, he looked to drugs, and spiritual guidance. The drugs came from Hexane, in the form of performance enhancement. However, the drugs Hexane used on Healius took a toll, warping Healius' mind. The Healius, learning from Catholic Priest Jacob Cross had some kind of notion of ascending to a higher level. To do so he knew he needed a disciple, enter The Gladiator.
After being taken captive by The Emperor and his associates, Gladiator entered a coma. It is not known if he was put into the coma through chemical bases, or by sustaining physical injuries. During this time, Hexane, in his last priorities working for Healius, has made Maximus stronger. He has a much bigger muscle mass now. Healius has mentioned things like the ascension, and becoming "Healius Maximus". He has stated that The Gladiator will once again be his tool in conquering the wrestling world.
Gladiator could be in a coma for however long, as The Emperor plots his next move to rule the wrestling world. However, as Gladiator lies in a coma, the FBI is sending out agents to investigate the whole matter.
Tie this in with Healius' ex wife Kallista Silverhair making an appearance, and the mystery continues to deepen...
At ICW July2Die, The Gladiator made his return, along with the Emperor, who revealed himself to be indeed Healius, possessing new enhanced physique. Gladiator dominated the competiton under the direction of The Emperor, as he tossed his name into the mix for the Hail to the King tournament.
Is the Gladiator totally under the control of the master manipulator, Healius? Or does he have something else planned...
Together, the two have formed a tag team, Romulus Maximii.
Romulus Maximii captured the tag team titles, and began to feud with the Dangerous Alliance, and later, the Most Dangerous Faction.
After Dave Dangerously began to unravel the mystery of the twelve, and subsequently defeated Maximii, Healius Maximus was sent to prison, along with his parter, Hoyakillah, former secret controller of several important affairs in Washington.
As The Gladiator was finally free of the influence, he began to regain a sense of self. He adopted his name, Thomas Harrison as his in-ring moniker, with a tag line of "the gladiator" or "the animal".
Sliding into the role through unknown circumstances, Harrison continued Hoyakillah's duties in Washington, controlling certain actions from secret lairs, learning that Hoyakillah was not an individual, but a title, thus Harrison becoming the new and current "Hoyakillah". It was a role that grew tiresome, learning that he was now in control of a clandestine organization that controlled several factors of the government, in addition to providing constant surveillance of several people, a lot of them with ties to Healius, Hoyakillah, Dave Dudley, the LWN, EWA, and many others unknown.
As he grew tired, he wanted to get back into the ring. He helped to reinstate J. Jacob McDerrick into an interim role of ICW president, who issued a match for the vacant ICW World Title between Harrison, Dangerously, and Genesis, who seemingly also had ties to Healius and the XII.
Harrison won the title, becoming one of the few to hold the ICW Triple Crown, and returned with it in celebration to the control center in Washington, where he found that Healius and Hoyakillah had escaped prison and now were federal fugitives.
Turning his attention less away from matters in Washington, Harrison has had a newfound interest in ICW, and it's affairs. He now wants to back up his history and actions with the fact that he could be the most dominant ICW World Champion in history, stating that he will take on all comers at all times, something that past champions have refused to do, being in an elite category.
His physique and in ring skill are at the peak of their intensity.
Anything that gets in his way...
beware, the ides of march.[/glow]
