Dave Dudley.
The Hardcore Icon.
A man of few, yet effective and poignant words.
A survivor of many, many battles.
A champion amongst champions.
An old soldier who carried the flag of tradition as long as he could.
One of the most notorious personalities in all of e-Wrestling.
Like him, or hate him, you have to respect him.
Or do you?
Has all Dave Dudley accomplished and done for this great sport all gone in vain?
Some would say yes. Those people have already forgotten his name.
Some would say no. Those people were the ones influenced by his actions.
Some would say maybe. Those people respected him for his actions, but not for his deplorable words.
The fact of the matter is that Dave Dudley is truely The Icon. And dispute it as you will, but most know it to be true.
And it's because of this fact that Dave Dudley could not let himself fade into obscurity without final words. It's just not him.
Sitting in a room as usual, we're shown The Hardcore Icon.
Only this time, he's not sitting on a folding chair, or a bench, or the floor even. No.
He's sitting on a throne.
Not a toilet seat, either.
A King's throne.
Afterall, isnt an Icon a King of sorts?
Dave Dudley: So time has ticked by...the minutes have passed like hours, the hours like days, the days like weeks, the weeks like months, the months like years, and so on. We've come a long, long way since December of 1999, havent we? Do you remember, that far back? Yours truely longing to be a part of LWN's WinterWar? So naive...so eager to go. The only person who knew what I was capable of was myself, and I wasnt that sure of it, either. But look at what all has happened.
Dave, looking down at the floor, wearing his in-ring attire, has his belts with him...those being the EWA Hardcore Championship, the ICW World Title, the ICW TransContinental Title, and the ICW Hardcore Title. They're draped over him as if they were part of his clothing. The look on his face is almost crazed. Think the kind of crazed look Jack Nicholson has in 'The Shining'. Only add in some sad, sad eyes.
Dave Dudley: So much history...so little time. So much more could have been accomplished. But it seems like I lost touch with the ever-changing politics and everything that comes with this business. Also 'dying' doesnt help either. And to that day, the whole story behind that remains a mystery. A mystery that sadly, will never be told. Seemingly.
Everything has changed. And it's so, so sad. The business that I truely love has gone and withered itself to a fragile shell of what it once was. The LWN...gone. The ICW...gone. The MWF...gone. The EWA...gone. The EFWO...
Dave shakes his head in disgust?
Dave Dudley: The EFWO. Still around. Like I've said before...never would have believed it. But Mr. Brian K. Oxenreider has monopolized the business...and I guess it paid off. His brand has prevailed, where everyone else has failed. And I see familiar faces in the EFWO. Familiar faces who I dominated in my career, who pay no respect to The Hardcore Icon. And it hurts, me being a man of pride. The whole time I've made myself a reputation of being "tough" and "hardcore". But it's about more than that. It is in fact about respect. Respect is what I always desired, and what I rarely recieved. But I wont begin to whine, or complain. Lord knows I've done a lot of that before. What I'm here to do, is to bow out, which is what I've almost been forced to do. Is this the end?
Dave looks up at the camera.
Dave Dudley: Yes. The end, of a most enjoyable ride. I couldnt just sit by and fade away. I had to say one last thing. Will I be seen again?...you can never tell in this business. But with me, one things for sure: nothing's for sure.
Dave gets up and kicks over the throne, breaking it
Dave Dudley: And with the collapse of this throne, comes the collapse of the entire e-wresting world. And it will never be what it was, unless I am once again sitting in this throne. So I leave with you all the memories, good, and bad. And I leave some unsettled scores. But there's one thing you all have to remember. People get what they deserve. I know I have had my share of what I deserve. And a day will come...
Dave gets down on his knees
Dave Dudley: When I will strike down upon thee with Great vengeance and Furious anger those who have besmirched my great name. And you will know my name is Dave Dudley, when I lay my vengeance upon thee. {looks straight into camera} But until the day comes my friends...
Testify.
