Name: "The Old School Icon" Tommy Jacobs
Height: 6'0
Weight: 241 Pounds
Hometown: Charlotte, North Carolina
Age: 27
Afflifation: Member of the Old School Icons.
Appearance: In his late 20's. Jacobs is very "clean cut". Real short brown hair that just lays down in the front. Medium sized build - - Nothing spectacular but is in good shape none the less. Ring Attire includes white, blue, or black wrestling tights with "Old School" written on the rear and his initials, TJ, on one pant leg. When he is not in wrestling gear, he will wear dress shirts, golf shirts, suits, kaki pants, ect.
Music: "Eye of the Tiger"
Character Concept: Tommy Jacobs' character is simple: He is a modern day wrestler who believes in an "Old School" wrestling philosophy. He is a strong dislike for hardcore wrestling. Jacobs feels that it gives wrestling a bad name and that the hardcore style shouldn't even be considered a form of wrestling.
Being a second generation wrestler, Jacobs takes wrestling seriously and therefore doesn't like people with out landish gimmicks or those with dalr gimmicks. He thinks that wrestling should be about wrestlers and not a lot of acting or Undertaker type stuff.
Pre-History: Tommy Jacobs grew up in wrestling. His father was a wrestler in regional territories as Tommy grew up. His father never amounted to anything big, but his biggest accomplishment in the sport was getting Tommy interested in wrestling. From a very early age, Jacobs wne to wrestling shows with his father, watched wrestling on TV, and imitated what he saw. As he grew older, his love for wrestling turned into a passion. began un-official wrestling training as a teenager, when his father began teaching him the basics. Tommy wrestled for his High Scool team, picking up amteur basics in the process.
Attended North Carolina State Universy on a partial wrestling scholarship upon the insistance of his father. Jacobs didn't really want to be in collge and while he was a good amateur wrestler, his heart was with Professional wrestling. He dropped out of college before his junior year and began fill time training to become a professional wrestler. Was trained by several veterans, who is father had knew durring his time as a wrestler. At the age of 22, began wrestling for independent promotions around North Carolina and neighboring states.
He impressed promoters with his wrestling skills, but never had a "hook" to make it to the big time. Desperate to make it big, Jacobs set aside his feelings on just being a wrestler, and upon the request of promoters, he began taking on a variety of gimmicks. Jacobs wrestled under a mask and other gimmicks in hopes of being able to make it big. Over time, he became frustrated with portraying characters that weren't true to him. He began turning down gigs where he would have to portray someone other then himself. At shows where he wrestled as himself, Jacobs began telling the crowds of his dislike fo all these un-realistic gimmicks and hardcore wrestling. Jacobs began being himself and saying what he truley thinks. His ideas did not sit well with a lot of the fans, who quickly turned on him. People took notice to the fans hatred of Jacobs, since any reaction is a good reaction in wrestling. When he officially adopted the whole "Old School" persona (that he had all along, but had never shown), bussiness began to pick up for him.
History: Tommy Jacobs first made it on the map, by joining the LWN in November of 1999. Upon on entering the fed, he verbally attacked the Hardcore wrestlers in the LWN, as well as those with very un-realistic gimmicks. His first feud was naturally with the Hardcore Revolution. Tommy won the Un-recognized Brass Knuckles Title from Revolution member Really Crazy, when Crazy pulled Jacobs' on top of himself, so that Jacobs would have to defend the title in hardcore matches. Tommy lost the title in a unification bout with the Hardcore champ in December.
Tommy floated around in the LWN, really not finding his position. In Janruary, he won the the LWN SMD title and began elevation into uper mid card status. However, due to other offers, Jacobs left the LWN towards the end of the winter.
At this time, Tommy Jacobs went to Insane Championship Wrestling. At once, he re-started a feud with Hardcore Revolution member, and now ICW wrestler, Hey Kid. In the strangest gimmick match I have ever seen, Kid beat Jacobs in a BasketBall match. However, Tommy severly injured Kid after the match using hardcore methoeds that he sweared he was against. Tommy continued injuring more wrestlers with violent techniques, but denied he was doing anything Hardcore. With other offers from other feds (OOC: Not being able to rp due to running the EFWO), Jacobs left the ICW in April.
Durring the winter/early spring, Jacobs made several appearances in the EFWO, but most of them just involved him lossing to hardcre competitors, including a loss in Net Mania's Hardcore Rumble.
In Late April/March, Tommy entered the EFWO on a permanent basis. After a short run as a "tweener" in the ICW/EFWO feud, Tommy established himself in the EFWO as the "anti-hardcore" heel. Tommy won the EFWO Hardcore title from Andrew Attitude and changed the name of the belt to the EFWO Old School Title. Jacobs used his pull as champion to make it so that he only defended the title in regular wrestling matches. Somebody would have to beat him in a regular match to capture the title and make it the hardcore title again and re-establish hardcore matches in the EFWO.
Tommy worked his way up and was one of the top wrestlers in the EFWO by the time Net Rumble II came around. In a close and somewhat disputed ending, Jacobs came up second to X-Dude and failed to get a title shot. When Returner left the fed, there was no champion so a tournament to find an opponent for X-Dude to decide a champion, was started. Jacobs plowed through the eight man tournament defeating Jay Vrmanicek, Vince McMahon, and 1234 Jobber. He was set to fight X-Dude at the PPV. Jacobs was clearly the favorite to win the match, when a day before the PPV, Tommy learned that the PPV had been pushed back a week. When the actual match came, a Hooded Man, who wasn't a member of the match, somehow pinned X-Dude to get the title even though he wasn't in the match. Shortly after, Tommy left the fed to do backstage problems.
After spending a couple of weeks in ICW, Jacobs returned to the EFWO alongside former EFWO President Ric Flair (OOC: Ric Flair was the character I first used in the EFWO when I entered in the summer of '99 and was the character that I used as President.) The two men announced that the EFWO had become nothing more then a shell of it's former self and they were here to bring things back to the way the "Old School EFWO" was. Despite the fact that many thought the EFWO was better then they ahd ever been, Jacobs began his mission to go against all of the new wrestlers and concepts in the EFWO. To do this, Jacobs enlisted the help of his friend and partner Phil Flate. The two formed the group, The Old School Icons, alongside other veteran EFWO members. The group quickly rose to the top, holding the World title right away.
Jacobs was forced to work his way up again, despite the fact that he had only left the fed for a month. Problems developed backstage, when EFWO wrestler Dan Downtown refused to wrestle Jacobs even after Downtown verablly assaulted Jacobs backstage saying that he was a better wrestler. For one reason or another, the whole fed turned into enimies of Jacobs and Flate. In the ring, Jacobs worked is way up to the World title scene, and in January, after being screwed out of many opportunities, Jacobs captured the world title mushc to the displeasure of the fans and the wrestlers.
Jacobs was always treated second rate by the management and treated poorly by the wrestlers. Proving himself time and time again in the ring wasn't enough for his critics. After putting up with political battles and insults from his jealus peers, Jacobs left the EFWO at the end of January, vacated the World title in the process.
Jacobs proceeded to enter the EWA where something happened to him that had never happened to him before....he was himself and still received cheers. Despite still acting like himself, Jacobs was appreciated by the fans and management. As a fan favorite for the first time in a while, Jacobs hopes to make it big in the EWA and prove that he can hang with the big boys.
Jacobs entered the EWA alongside his longtime friend and fellow Old School Icon member, Phil Flate. After "fighting the good fight", so to speak, Jacobs turned his back on Flate and the Icons by joining up with his rival Hoyakillah and the MDF. This led to a bitter feud between the two former friends and partners all cumulating with their first ever one on one match at EWA's WrestleFest III. The match was for the SOB (American) title that Flate had won a couple weeks previous to the match. After a gruleing, 30 minute, technical match, Flate emerged victorious. This victory sent Jacobs off the deep end, as his obsession for winning grew and grew. The Old School Icon began brutally attacking opponents, and became more and more unstable with every loss. Just a few short weeks after their war of a match, Flate and Jacobs shocked the world by reuniting in a post match beatdown of Dan Hampton after Jacobs had suffered a lost to Hampton. The two men claimed that Wrestlefest served as a wake up call. They had the best match on the show and it made them realize that they shouldn't be wasting their skills against each other, they should be combining them to become an unstoppable force in the EWA.
In early May, however, Jacobs virtually disappeared from the EWA without any prior notice. He reappeared a short time later, but this time he was back in the E-Federation World Order. Jacobs and Flate were brought back to the company that they had parted ways with 4 months earlier. The duo was brought in to be the mystery tag team against Andrew Attitude and Wicket at the EFWO's big Net Mania II PPV. However, Jacobs and Flate quickly learned they weren't going to be treated any better in the EFWO this time around, as the match was inexplicably dropped from the card. Jacobs was then scheduled to face Andrew Attitude on the next show, but once again, the match was canceled without notice. Jacobs quickly grew frustrated with the poor management at the EFWO. None the less, he stuck around and in his first match back, he defeated Havok to earn a world title shot.
Yet, it was easier said then done. Instead of just getting his shot, Jacobs was forced to wrestle X-Dude to see who would get the first shot. After coming up short in the match, Jacobs was then forced to face Havok, neglecting his promised title shot yet again. An unhappy Jacobs showed up for the match, and wrestling at less then 100 percent, once again was defeated. This was at the middle of June and would be Jacobs' last TV appearance in nearly two months.
In early August, the Old School Federation announced it's opening into the wrestling world. With a name like that, it was only fitting that Jacobs be part of the new promotion. He was, yet as a color commentator instead of a wrestler. It didn't take long for Jacobs to get physically involved though. During an in ring interview with Dave Dudley on the very first show, Jacobs was brutally attacked by both Dudley and Andrew Leigh. Jacobs got back at Dudley later in the evening by costing him his match in the OSF title tournament. When all was said and done, Jacobs was the recipient of another 4D from the Hardcore Icon. After the first show, the OSF shut down and Jacobs once again faded out of the spotlight.
That is until mid August when the EWA announced it's gran reopening headlined by a Nine Lives match for the vacated EWA titles. The Old School Icon came out of seclusion and once again joined the EWA, looking to reclaim his legnedary status. In his first match in nearly 3 months, Jacobs finished fourth in the Nine Lives match, getting an Interglobal title shot in the process. However, Jacobs lost his eventual shot at the title.
