De-mon, I thought about buying it myself.
Lots of factors weigh in, on my decision to NOT purchase ONS.
1. I'm unemployed, we dont have a WHOLE lot of money.
2. I have to support my cocaine-I mean GI JOE 25th anniversary action figure addiction, so yeah.
3. I have to support my meth- I mean comic book addiction, so yeah.
4. The ONS DVD will be out in three weeks, for 15 bucks, and I can have it forever. I will be buying the DVD, because the matches are probably going to be real good.
5. I watch wrestling every week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. I'm probably the only one here who watches it still that much. I am very involved in the story and I really want to see it. But a lot of them ARE matches that we've seen a ton of times. They're still WrestleMania rematches.
6. The singapore cane match is a great idea, but will probably be executed poorly. Big Show obviously will win it to go on against Kane. (Great matchup there)
7. With the draft happening soon, none of these matches mean anything for the future. Orton may win the match only to be drafted to Smackdown. Taker will probably lose and end up going to RAW. Edge is a better champ right now than Taker on Smackdown, because Edge could face anybody and it'd be within his capacity for a match.
Taker needs to go to RAW and face those guys, Cena, HHH, HBK, JBL, Orton even. Superstar stuff.
Orton should go to Smackdown and feud with Edge, a two heel feud. Good stuff. Elevate those stars.
Since RAW is getting the ECW roster after the draft, RAW needs to get all the big time talent like taker, HHH, HBK etc. They'll have plenty of other guys to push up with the RAW undercard and ECW.
The point is, One Night Stand looks good on paper, and the matches will be good, but its a throwaway PPV.
It should be only $24.95 rather than 40 bucks. If WWE was smart they'd make the "in your house" ppvs cheaper like they used to be. More and more people are buying the quickly turned around DVDs, or watching all WWE programming on their DVRs.
Eventually no one will pay 40 bucks a month to see Batista, Edge, Orton, HHH, Taker, or Cena be in a world title match.
Because They've all been in the main events for the last 14 months.
Look it up.

I haven't watched wrestling in years, so take this with a grain of salt, but here's my two cents:
Has Taker officially entered the Hulk Hogan/Lex Luger/Sid Vicious stage of his career? Unwatchable matches, cliched mic work, political potency backstage? Really, he's been as political backstage as any wrestler of the past 15 years, and I'm including HHH and Shawn Micheals and all those guys.
For me, Kane was only palatable when he had the mask and the full body suit and didn't speak, and Big Show was good when he was doing the comedy bit, but otherwise they both suck.
Do titles ever actually change hands at events like this? No way I'm shelling out 40 bucks for a "throwaway PPV" as Dave put it.
How do you guys feel about the whole "brand division" thing? Personally, I would scrap it, and trim down the roster and try to revitalize stuff like OVW. Maybe Vince is afraid to trim talent because he doesn't want TNA to pick up momentum and seriously challenge him.

Taker is in the prime of his career, in my opinion. He can hang with the youngest. His mic work isn't as good because he does the Badass voice while doing the deadman gimmick. And he licks his lips a lot during matches, its funny.
Hes in great shape, though, and his moves are excellent.
Kane is a good wrestler, but he has no gimmick. He needs to be KANE THE DESTRUCTOR or something. Something evil.
Titles rarely change hands at these events, and if you've watched wrestling, titles rarely change hands EVER, anymore.
OVW was good as a minor leagues. I cant remember the new company they use, FCW or something? Florida.
The brand extension is good, but with the flipflopping of talent back and forth it's irrelevant. Make ECW two hours, put more guys on there. Keep things more separate.
TNA is really picking up momentum. Their women's division is more entertaining than the men's.
Samoa Joe is a terrible champion, though. The fans love him, but he's got the CENA-disease, but only worse. He can't wrestle at ALL, he's FAT, and his mic work is TERRIBLE, just terrible.
Kurt Angle will die wrestling in TNA, with his bad back/neck. He's going to end up crippled.
AJ Styles, Christian, Rhyno, Booker T, Robert Roode, Chris Daniels(if he could drop the Curry Man gimmick) and half the X-Division roster should be in title contention.
The old guard should consist of Sting, Nash, and Steiner. All guys who are still capable of actually wrestling a decent match sometimes.
The Dudleys need to go back to WWE, I believe. And they should be pushed to the top in some kind of tag team storyline that is the main thing.
TNA is good, and it is getting better, but they gotta stop with the redneck shit, they gotta move out of the impact zone, and they have to get new announcers, because Mike Tenay and Don West(Tony Schiavone and Mike Madden and the other fag from nitro rolled into one) ARE PLAYED OUT.
Plus, Jeff Jarrett needs to man up and return to wrestling.
TNA is innovative. But, I've never ever watched one of their PPVs. I watch Impact every week on DVR.
As for ONS, HHH will win, and Edge will win. BOOM, tough actin tinactin. I'll be getting play by play online.

Tag team wrestling is dead in WWE Dave. Its sad to say, but they just don't care about tag team wrestling. Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes as tag champs? The Miz and Morrison? The true tag teams that are actually in WWE are constantly jobbed out...There is no focus on tag team wrestling, which is a shame because tag team wrestling can be so much more exciting than singles action.
The days of th Hardyz, Edge and Christian and the Dudleyz are gone though.
