The Bravos are HORRIBLE right now. will be for a few years, most likely. We need to ax players liek glavne and hampton, wh oare wya past their prime, and eating our salary room alive. I dont deny the braves are horrible. i freely admit it.
I post the NYM stuff bcuz, all the NYM ppl love to talk about how gr8 the team is yadda yadda ,but when games liek last night, and the past 14 games occur, , and are on the verge of yet another collapse, the mets fans are in denial, saying for their performance under pressure, and i nthe middle of a playoff race, they players deserve MVP's and the upper managment huge extensions. also i noticed u ignored that the " ultra faithful" mets fans, DID NOT support the team in the bottom of the 10th, they left. I mean, real fa ns support their team no matter how bad hte yare doing, but to see the lines of ppl leaving, wasnt surprising to me at all for some reason.
NY Met fan line of the year : " Scott Schoeneweis is young. He'll improve!"
Right- dudes 34 yrs old, has a 2-5 record and has walked 22 batters to go along w/ 32 Ks. Pretty awesome for 3.6 MILLION dollard. So in NY a 2-5 record is worth almost 4 million bucks for a young, strapping, 34 yr old?!?1 Only in ny.......

EFF those Braves I'm really tired of hearing about them and Larry the Chipper Jones. I cant wait for him to retire. I also agree Jerry has done a great job with what he has. I feel the Mets should make him the coach. I also think they should take our fragile Pedro and put him in the bullpen. He is no good to us anymore as a starter. He pitches 4 or 5 good innings, so why not put him in the pen so we finally can have a stopper leading up to the closer. But we all know they wont do that and bruise his ego, so we will just waste another season as we usually do........

lol wow! i simply ment the talk of Delgado getting an MVP while his team is collapsing for the 2nd yr in a row, and extending the GM b4 seeing if the team is making the playoffs.
Myself as a sports fan, a HUGE sports fan, as im sure others are, would sacarfice an hour of sleep, to watch their team in person. I have a AAA team here ( Norfolk tides), an they arent ver ygood, lol. But whe ni go, i go to watch baseball, and have a good time. I stay if its the 18th inning, or a 18-2 blowout, bcuz i love the game, and i love to watch it. I wouldnt bail out the 2nd things went south for the team.
LOL! I have no probs w/ northeners, yikes! Im a southern guy, so of course, the northern busyness abd hgustle and bustle and expensivenwss, and cold weather, im not a fan of. NO PROBS W/ NORTHENERS!! thats pretty funny!!!
Mayhem- good point about Martinez. Thats an excellent idea, and might prolong his career at this point. Hes a deft. upgrade over whomever they have i nthere right now. Good, solid, reasonable pick.

Santana to start tomorrow on 3 days rest after throwing 125 pitches in his last outing. Fair or not, this start will probably be a referendum on the Santana trade and signing.

Santana saved the season today. In the 46 years the Mets have been a team, this might have been the most clutch performance they've ever had. Combined with the Brewers' loss, they're tied for the wildcard and have a good shot going into tomorrow. Ollie's always iffy, but he's a big-game kind of pitcher and the last time he pitched on short rest was game 7 of the NLCS in 06, a game they lost despite a phenomenal performance from him. Plus, they're going against Scott Olsen. check this out:
4 GS, 22 IP, 28 H, 17 R/ER, 6 BB, 14 K, 6 HR allowed, 0-3, 6.96 ERA.
That's Olsen's line against the Mets this year. Last time he faced them was 8/31, when he went 6 1/3 and gave up 6 runs. And it can't hurt that Ollie is 3-0 with a 2.03 ERA against the Fish this year.
As far as all the sniping, I think it's kind of unfounded. No one was really talking up the Mets on the board that I noticed until you posted the thread about Wagner's arm troubles. Then it turned into me and Farrell discussing the Mets vs. Phils, then it degenerated into this stupid bullshit. Whatever.
And finally, there are 5 clear-cut MVP candidates. Ryan Howard, Carlos Delgado, David Wright, Ryan Braun, and Albert Pujols.
Howard won't get it because his numbers that aren't HR or RBI are awful. He got hot at the right time so his name is on the tip of every pundit's tongue.
Even if the Mets get into the playoffs, Delgado and Wright would most likely split the vote and neither would get enough support to win it. Wright would deserve it over Delgado, if only for his better all-around performance. Delgado makes a nice story, as the grizzled vet everyone thought was washed up making a huge comeback.
Braun has good numbers but never really put the team on his back and carried them to the finish line. The Brewers should not have had to fight this hard for the wildcard, considering the lead they had on it 6 weeks ago. Both Milwaukee and the Mets, whichever makes the playoffs, will be guilty of backing in and not really claiming it as their own[this, of course, barring a Sabathia or Perez perfect game tomorrow].
I think Pujols has to be the MVP. He has absolutely no supporting cast in St. Louis, save for the surprising Ryan Ludwick, and he single-handedly kept that team in the playoff hunt through late August. The Cards had no business doing as well as they did this year, and Albert has a lot to do with it. Jonah Keri of ESPN.com said it best, and I agree with him: no one picks Pujols because he's doing exactly what you expect him to do. He hits .330, 35 HR, 120 RBI, plays great defense, and is the scariest guy to have to face in any sort of pressure situation. But he's not flashy about it so no one outside of St. Louis gives a shit.
And that's my two cents.
